Bag it up Club: Tupelo Tag Along Bag
Create a bag with all the pockets and pouches you need to hold your essentials. This is not a beginner class. You must have intermediate sewing experience. Sewing homework is part of the class. Go for it! (And bring your lunch if signing up for the all day May 31 class.)
This is an intermediate sewing skill class. This is not a bag for those beginning to sew.
- Materials to make Medium sized bag:
o 6 strips for bag body
o 1 strip for zipper tabs
o 1 strip for outer bag binding (a total of 8 –2 ½ inch strips)
o 1- 18” zipper (Pam Damour home dec. zipper tape and pulls are ideal and you will have plenty of zipper tape to cut to desired length.)
- 6 strips: (44 inches long, and 2 ¼ inch wide) of Foos-i-boo fusible batting or, light to medium weight batting (for lining the inside of the 6 strips used for outer bag.)
- For inside pockets: ½ yard of fabric, ¼ yard of fusible interfacing, such as featherweight. 2- 9” or larger zippers. (Polyester teeth only)
- Thread: 50 weight polyester thread, or could use 30 weight sulky variegated thread. Must use Microtex 90/14 needle and a Denim 110 needle. Universal needle size 80 for some sewing.
- 4- 1” buttons for handle.
- Other tools needed:
o Sewing machine in good working order
o Fabric marker
o Straight pins
o Rotary cutter, mat, ruler.
o Seam ripper
o Scissors
o Pressing mat and iron
o Teflon pressing sheet
o Hand Sewing needle (size 7 Miliner)
