Hand-embroidered Canvas Sneakers

Students will practice a variety of techniques before stitching on your shoes.

**Pre-wash shoes or wear them in for easier stitching. (prior to class)

This class is for students who would like to learn how to embroidery by hand and then transfer their skills to canvas shoes.  It is very fun to convert a plain or older shoe into something really fun!

Class supplies:

• DIY Embroidered Shoes book - included in class fee
• 1 pair canvas shoes (clean)
• 4" or 6" wooden embroidery hoop
• Fat Quarter of White Cotton
• 1/4 yd SF 101 Stabilizer
• Needles: Variety of Embroidery needles and curved needles (small). See below for recommendations 
  • 1 package hand embroidery or crewel needles size 5 sharp
  • 1 package hand  embroidery or crewel needles  size 3 or 4 (the smaller the number, the larger the needle eye)
  • 1 curved embroidery or home-sewing needle
• Embroidery floss (1 skein of each color you want to use) - DMC or COSMO  or Aurifil 28 or 12 wt.(all available at The Sewing Circle)
•  Pin cushion or needle storage book
•  Plastic clips
• wash-away pen in 2 colors (Black and blur or red)
• Thread snips (very sharp and tiny point
• Masking, washi or paper tape (small and strong)
• Thimble that is comfortable (optional: recommend leather or soft plastic)
• Needle threader (optional)
• Light table may be useful but not required. (optional)
• tiny beads or crystals (optional)
• Printed pictures of designs you would like to use
• Lunch hour Embroidery book by patchwork Place (optional)

• Bag or case to carry your supplies (optional)
