Learn to Digitize Machine Applique in the hoop!

Learn to embroider designs to Applique in the hoop on your embroidery machine!
LOTS OF FUN!
Do you have applique patterns that were meant to be done the old-fashioned way?  Do you want to turn them into machine applique?  This is the class for you!

Lesson #1: 

Embroider an applique in class - learning the process and documenting the different methods 

Supplies:

• NO COMPUTER needed for this lesson
• Embroidery machine with arm, hoop (minimum size 150x150), embroidery foot, power cord, foot control
• 1/4 yard of steam-a-seam 2 lite
• Fabric:
• Fat quarter of background fabric (whit in example above)
• scraps 6" x 6" for the flowers, handwheel, rubber on handwheel, knob, needle and thread stands.
• 10" x 10" fabric for body of machine (in the picture it is floral)
• 6" x 12" piece of fabric for base of machine
• Threads you want to use (50 or 60 wt – cotton, poly or rayon)
• Bobbin Fill on your bobbin or prewound
• 90/14 embroidery needle
• Embroidery trimming scissors (Karen Kay Buckley scissors work nice or the bent trimming scissors)
• Iron & pressing mat (available in the classroom
• Pad of notepaper.
• HOMEWORK:  Find an applique photo/artwork to work on for your project (Melissa will discuss in class)

Lesson #2:

Lesson #3:

1.  Computer loaded with software (CREATIVATE Platinum)
2. Discuss base layer work
3.   Work on next layers.
4.   Finish Applique stitching and decorative stitching on applique
5.   Any other stitching
6. HOMEWORK:  Finish top layers and Stitch out design (draft)

Lesson #4:

1.   Discuss stitch-outs:  what worked, what did not
2.  Computer loaded with software (CREATIVATE Platinum)
3.    Computer loaded with software (CREATIVATE Platinum)
4.   What needs to be fixed.  How can this be done easier?
5. Work on design with Melissa in the room
