Counting Steps (Beginning Level 2)
Using 2 1/2 in strips, make 2 easy blocks and assemble for one fun quilt.
Skills you will learn in this class are:
- Stitching strips together (no curves!)
- Pressing seams (not ironing)
- Cutting blocks
- Laying out the top with a sashing and fun piano key border
Supplies:
- Cutting mat
- Rotary cutter, either 45 or 60 size with a new blade
- Iron and pressing mat
- Thread snips
- ¼” piecing foot recommended
- 50 wt cotton thread
- Sewing machine in good working order
- new needle ( Recommended Universal 75/11)
- Fabric as indicated on pattern back (pattern is supplied as part of your class fee)
- Pattern – Counting Steps- Strippers Club Series Quilt #66 * included in your class fee!!
Before Class 1:
WOF= width of fabric
- Purchase 1 jelly roll fun fabric and 1 jr jelly roll in solid color
o These can be cut yourself – 42 strips fun fabric and 21 strips of black (2 ½” x WOF)
- Purchase matching thread (50 wt.)
Class 1:
- Stitching strips
- Cutting block segments
- Sewing 2 different blocks
Homework:
- Sew 10 blocks of each of the 2 types learned in class 1
Class 2:
- Piecing the center of the quilt
- Attaching 1st border
Homework:
- Sew 2nd border as shown in class 2
- Sew the piano keys
Class 3:
- Attaching the piano key border
